1. TIME INTENSIVE

Cómo Funciona el GMAT

El Examen de ingreso para graduados en administración, mejor conocido como GMAT®, es una prueba estandarizada que se utiliza en el Proceso de Admisión de Educación para graduados en administración (GME), que incluye MBA y otros programas profesionales de maestría y doctorado. Este examen mide ciertas habilidades de interés para el curso de GME, especialmente las habilidades de razonamiento ejecutivo, incluida la forma en que toma decisiones y administra los recursos escasos. No evalúa ningún conocimiento empresarial específico. 

¿Cuándo se rinde el GMAT? Puede tomar el GMAT durante todo el año, casi cualquier día de la semana. Se puede realizar el examen hasta 5 veces en 12 meses consecutivos y hasta 8 veces en su vida. Debe esperar 16 días entre las dos pruebas. Consulte el sitio web oficial de GMAT y cree una cuenta gratuita; tendrá acceso a algunas preguntas de práctica gratuitas y dos pruebas de práctica gratuitas. La prueba se completa en una computadora en un centro de pruebas dedicado llamado “CAT”. También está la alternativa de rendirla online.

¿Qué es CAT? CAT es una prueba de computadora adaptativa; la prueba se adaptará a usted a medida que avanza. Dos de las cuatro partes del GMAT, la parte cuantitativa y la parte del lenguaje, son adaptables. Cada una de estas dos partes comienza con una pregunta aleatoria, que es aproximadamente de nivel medio. La computadora seleccionará cada pregunta de seguimiento en función de su desempeño colectivo hasta ese punto de la sección. Un buen curso GMAT debe incluir varios CAT.

 El significado real es muy importante. Primero, cada candidato tomará un examen diferente y tendrá una combinación diferente de preguntas. ¿resultado? No importa qué tan bien lo hagas, el examen hará que las personas se sientan difíciles, porque el examen seguirá arrojándote preguntas más difíciles hasta que llegues a tu límite. En la escuela, cuando estás bien preparado, el examen se siente casi fácil. GMAT nunca hará que las personas se sientan tranquilas, porque cuanto mejor lo hagas, más difícil será el examen, ¡literalmente! 

En segundo lugar, la puntuación es extraña; es importante comprender ciertas cosas sobre cómo funciona la puntuación, para que sepa cómo tomar decisiones que le ayudarán a maximizar su puntuación. 

¿Cómo se califica el GMAT? Los exámenes que tomas en la escuela generalmente se califican según el porcentaje de preguntas respondidas correctamente; cuanto más lo hagas bien, mayor será la puntuación que obtendrás. Por lo tanto, ha recibido formación para dedicar tiempo a intentar hacer lo correcto durante el examen. Esta estrategia general no funciona en la adaptación computarizada del GMAT, porque es interesante notar que las puntuaciones cuantitativas y orales no se basan en el porcentaje de preguntas respondidas correctamente. En la prueba GMAT, la proporción de personas que responden las preguntas en forma correcta es similar, generalmente en el rango del 50% al 70% (¡incluso en niveles de puntaje más altos!). 

Espera … Si todos los examinados tienen el mismo porcentaje de respuestas correctas, ¿cómo distingue el GMAT entre diferentes niveles de desempeño? Puede pensar en el GMAT como una prueba que busca el percentil 60 de cada persona, o el rango de dificultad en el cual esa persona puede responder aproximadamente el 60% de las preguntas correctamente. (Esto no es exactamente lo que sucedió, pero es una analogía útil). Su puntaje dependerá del nivel de preguntas que pueda obtener; cuanto más alto sea su nivel 60%, mayor será su puntaje.

Sabiendo esto, toda su estrategia para esta prueba cambia. En realidad, no está tratando de contestar todo bien. Debe poder distinguir entre los problemas que son buenas oportunidades de inversión para usted (aquellos que tienen más probabilidades de funcionar bien en un período de tiempo razonable) y los problemas que son malas oportunidades, de modo que pueda adivinar rápidamente los problemas negativos. Esto puede ahorrar su tiempo y energía para invertir en mejores oportunidades. 

¿Recuerda que dijimos antes que el principal interés de los autores de pruebas es comprender su capacidad para tomar decisiones y administrar recursos escasos? En otras palabras, esta estructura de prueba es muy significativa: ¡GMAT está probando sus habilidades de razonamiento empresarial!

 La discusión anterior es solo una introducción al principio de funcionamiento de la puntuación GMAT; antes de realizar la prueba real, debe comprender el principio de funcionamiento de la puntuación y cómo afecta la forma en que gasta el tiempo y la energía durante la prueba.

Estructura del GMAT

La prueba GMAT consta de cuatro secciones principales: Análisis de razonamiento integrado, Verbal, Cuantitativo y Escritura analítica. La prueba completa dura aproximadamente 3 horas y 30 minutos, incluyendo dos descansos de 8 minutos cada uno.

El 15 de marzo de 2020, España declaró una cuarentena para frenar la pandemia de Coronavirus. Si bien esta medida restrictiva tomada por el gobierno parece haber ayudado a controlar la propagación del virus, también ha tenido efectos drásticos en la vida laboral de

Los datos de la investigación sugieren que casi el 50% de los trabajos en riesgo se encuentran en ocupaciones que ganan menos de £ 10 por hora.

The health and safety of candidates and our staff are of the utmost importance to GMAC, and we are actively working with testing centers to respond to this very difficult situation. As a part of the global effort to contain the spread and mitigate impact of COVID-19 (coronavirus), GMAT™ and  Executive Assessment testing has been suspended in many locations worldwide. For testing centers that remain open, enhanced health and safety measures are in place including enhanced cleaning procedures, hand sanitizer and wipes provided for candidates.  

As the situation develops, below you will find the most up-to-date information on testing center closures, enhanced testing center procedures, and health and safety guidance.

Interim GMAT™ Exam – Available Online Mid-April

We all recognize this is a challenging time for testing with test center closures around the world. To help you, we are preparing an alternative GMAT™ exam available online.

This interim GMAT exam will provide a comparable structure, number of items, and scoring as delivered in test centers. The Quant, Verbal and IR sections (no AWA section) will have the same number of items and the same time for completion. This will allow us to maintain the same score scale for both the Section Scores and Total Score.  

The check-in and security protocols will be modified to accommodate online delivery and remote proctors will be used to manage test integrity.

The alternative test will be available in impacted markets, outside of mainland China. GMAC is continuing to work with the Chinese government authorities to present appropriate, alternative solutions for test takers in mainland China. 

In light of the current unprecedented situation, this interim solution will be offered at a lower price point than the standard GMAT exam to support our test takers and schools during this difficult time.   

Interim Online Executive Assessment – Registration at the End of April

Our goal is to open registration for an online proctored alternative to the Executive Assessment at the end of April. The test will be compatible with both Mac and PC, and will offer a comparable structure, time, and scoring as the exam delivered in the test centers. The check-in and security protocols will be modified to accommodate online delivery and remote proctors will be used to manage test integrity.

The alternative interim test will be available in impacted markets, outside of mainland China. GMAC is continuing to work with the Chinese government authorities to present appropriate, alternative solutions for test takers in mainland China.
